Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cameo.
Strategic Partnerships
All the interviews were remote video calls since it was Covid. I applied and then had the first interview within two days. After that, there were four more interviews, with the last one being with the COO. The team was great during the whole process, always responding quickly and setting up the next interviews promptly each day. The questions were mainly about my experience since I was clearly qualified, maybe even overqualified for the role. In the end, I was rejected and they said I wasn't the right 'fit', even though I have years of relevant experience in this industry. It's hard not to feel like my age was the reason for the decision, as I was older than everyone I interviewed with, by many years.
- How familiar are you with Cameo?
- Can you leverage your existing relationships to accelerate our growth?
Strategic Partnerships
First, you'll submit your resume and a cover letter online. While not mandatory, a cover letter is strongly recommended if you're aiming for teams like Strategic Partnerships, Account Executive, or Talent Relations. They're really looking for candidates who show a grasp of pop culture, have a strong drive to overcome challenges, and have a history of exceeding expectations for clients and partners. Next is a logic/personality test, which is pretty standard for tech startups in Chicago. It's crucial to take this seriously, as not doing so can hinder your progress (based on feedback from others). It's basically a way to filter out those who are genuinely interested in working at Cameo versus those just looking for any job. The in-person interviews were quite revealing. I met with about 5-6 team members, not all in leadership, but all key players on the team. It was clear they were assessing for cultural fit and verifying my resume. Be prepared to explain how you achieved your past successes and how they directly apply to the role at Cameo. They emphasized multiple times that this is a high-volume sales environment. If you're coming from a role with a set book of business and specific accounts, you'll need to shift your mindset and think creatively about your outreach strategies. Overall, this is an amazing team. Being surrounded by people who are better than you makes you a better contributor. The team's collaborative nature and willingness to share strengths to overcome weaknesses will definitely lead to success. Good luck with your interview and hope to see you soon!
- What is your reason for wanting to join Cameo?

- Can you explain your past accomplishments and how they relate to this role at Cameo?
Strategic Partnerships
Since we're in the middle of a pandemic, it was a virtual Zoom interview. I got an email to schedule the interview 2 days after applying, which I thought was a great sign. The interviewer was chewing gum and seemed quite distracted during the whole process. During the sign off, her computer froze and the call was ended. I sent a follow up email to thank for her time and ask for any status updates. It's now 3 weeks later and I've heard nothing. Not very professional if I'm being honest.
- Can you describe your previous role?
