The first step was a phone interview that was pretty simple. But after learning more about the job, I decided it wasn't for me, so I dropped out after the phone interview. The recruiter called me multiple times afterward, pushing me to go to the next stage (in-person) so I could find out more about the role, and I eventually agreed. Because of what the job entails, I thought I'd be asked more about my past experience, but the interviewers seemed focused on testing if I could remember proofs from college. Since I graduated a long time ago and didn't expect questions like that, especially since they weren't related to the job, I hadn't reviewed them and struggled to recall the steps. It felt like they were assessing a fresh graduate, not someone hired for industry experience. It was also strange that they didn't inquire about my previous work, which was the primary reason for the position. Overall, my impression was that they hadn't really considered what interview process would be suitable for the role they were hiring for.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Remembering various proofs from university, such as the derivation of the Bernoulli equation, was difficult after 10+ years without revision.
