Customer Success Manager
So this interview process was the longest I've ever been through. It started with an HR chat, then I talked to the hiring manager, then there were six more interviews with people I'd work with, then a panel presentation, and finally, an interview with the head of the department. Most of these were on separate days over like a 3-4 week stretch. They said I'd hear back about next steps on a certain day, but it took a few extra days, so I had to reach out to HR for an update. Turns out they went with someone else, which was a bummer, and they said it was because I didn't have the right experience. It confused me since my resume got me the interview based on my background. On the plus side, the people I met were nice and smart, the company seems to be growing and has a good culture, the job seemed stable with growth potential, and they have a clear company culture with good info to get you excited. But, some questions felt a bit challenging, like they were doubting my abilities instead of letting me show how my skills could help. Also, some questions got a bit too personal. The whole process felt way too long for a manager role, like it's unlikely all 10+ people would really connect with a candidate. It made me wonder why so many people needed to approve and if that means they don't make decisions well or trust people. They also seem to think only direct experience in this specific role matters, not diverse experience. They use a Predictive Index test for decisions, which can be hit or miss. Candidates should look into it beforehand because your answers can be affected by your mood that day, and my results from a year ago were different from this time. Hopefully, they focus more on the person than the test. Still, I'm glad I got the interview experience and learned about their process and company dynamics.

Customer Success Manager
It was a long process, with a lot of different people from the company. They wanted to make sure we were a good fit for each other, and that I'd fit in. I met like 10 people from all over the company, and by the end it felt like I was already part of the team. Some interviews were in Spanish to check my language skills.
- Tell me about your experience.
- What are your priorities?
- What support do you need from your direct manager to be successful?
Customer Success Manager
The hiring process was on the longer side, involving several rounds with people from both Customer Success and Sales. Every conversation was a 30-minute Zoom call. Each call began with a rundown of the job, the interviewer explained their specific connection to the open role, and it concluded with an open time for questions about Calix and the position.
- Can you mention any books or podcasts about career development that you've found helpful?
