First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CalFirst.
Account Executive
The interview was about 20 minutes long. They asked about my sales experience, knowing I didn't have prior experience, and if that experience included commission. They seemed more interested in commission-based pay. The recruiter explained the starting salary is $50,000 base plus a draw on commissions, with full medical and dental benefits and a matching 401K. He mentioned it takes about 8 months to make a sale and requires making 50-80 calls daily within a specific territory. I was told a Sales Manager would contact me for a second interview if they were interested. They advised checking out their two websites (bank loans and equipment leasing) before the interview to discuss the company intelligently.
- Can you tell me about your previous sales experience?
- Was your past sales experience commission-based?
Account Executive
It was a four-part process. Started with a recruiter chat, then I spoke with someone from the sales team I'd join. After that, there was a deep dive with a VP who's clearly been there forever, and finally, a super quick 2-minute chat with the president.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Do you participate in any sports?
Account Executive
Applied online, got a call from a recruiter. First met with the recruiter, they talked about the company, responsibilities, and pay. Asked if I could come in for a group interview later that evening. The group interview got canceled, so they switched to 1-1 interviews. I met with the VP and then two hiring managers.
- What makes you interested in a sales career?
