Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CAE.
Software Engineer
The interview process was smooth and well-organized. It started with an online coding assessment focusing on basic algorithms and problem-solving. Afterwards, I had two technical interviews covering JavaScript, APIs, and database queries, followed by a short HR discussion about culture fit and career goals. The team was friendly, and communication was clear throughout. Overall, it was a positive experience.
- Can you talk about a project where you made the codebase perform better or be easier to maintain?
Software Engineer
Worst recruitment process and the worst HR I got. At the start, the recruiter was in such a hurry and insisted I interview today. After the interviews, I started chasing him, and he kept saying 'by today, then tomorrow, then this Thursday, then Monday.' At last, he stopped receiving calls and WhatsApp messages. He wasted my time and played with my emotions about getting an offer letter. He is the worst recruiter, which shows the level of the company CAE. Really pathetic process.
- Can you tell me about the basics of Swift?
- Could you describe the architecture of the project you worked on?
- Explain your understanding of multi-threading.
Software Engineer
I applied online but never heard back. Later I learned my colleague who got a job there left after only a week. I contacted the company and arranged an interview for the next week. It was with a panel of three people (Simulation Software Manager, Software Manager, and a system architect) and HR. They really needed people with Australian Defense Secret clearance, which I have, especially after my colleague left so quickly. The interview questions were basic: why I want to work there, what I know about CAE, what I've been doing, and why I'm leaving my current job.
- Tell me what you know about CAE and why you are interested in working here.
- Can you tell me about your recent work and your reasons for considering a move from your current employer?
