First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CACIB.
Risk Analyst
It started with an online test that included basic maths, finance questions, and some Excel and VBA questions, plus questions about motivation. Then there were questions about CVar, VaR calculation, what a Bond, Repo, and Fixed income are. Also about Greeks like delta and Gamma, CDO, CDS, and Volatilité implicite, including how to calculate/estimate it historically.
- Tell me about the Greeks, VaR, and CVar.
- How would you approach Excel and VBA tasks?
- What are your motivations for this role?
Market Risk Analyst
The interview included standard risk assessment questions covering metrics like VAR, SVAR, STT, and CVAR, PNL, derivatives, asset classes, and Greeks. There were also some questions about VBA and Python, and a bit about modeling, like the Black-Scholes model and others I knew.
- Can you explain the distinction between SVAR and STT?
Credit Risk Analyst
After submitting my application on the group's job site, I had a first interview. It lasted 2.5 hours with a senior analyst: presentation, technical questions in financial analysis, 2 case studies (English and French) then a debrief. And a second interview was scheduled with the manager. The manager only asked a few questions, a very brief 20-minute interview.
- How would you analyze balance sheets, P&L, and cash flow statements?
- Are there any tricky questions in financial analysis?
- Can you present a case study in English?
