Technical Support Specialist
You have to go to their call center for 3 tests. The first 2 tests are technical, and the 3rd one is about customer service. After passing those, there's a long interview where they ask you STAR format questions. Then, you have a short chat with some HR folks. They might even offer you the job right there if your training class is starting soon.
- Tell me about a specific situation from your past that aligns with the STAR method.
- Can you provide a specific example of a situation you've experienced?
Technical Support Specialist
Applied online and got a call the next day to schedule an onsite test and potential interview. I set it up for two days later, and they said to allow 1.5 to 2 hours, but really, you'll need more time. The test had three parts: the first two were multiple-choice on tech knowledge (you gotta pass to move on), and the third was a basic customer service skills test. After passing, I waited about 20 minutes to meet with a supervisor. We talked about the training schedule, emphasizing the need for flexibility with shifts from 4 AM to 12:30 AM, seven days a week. They also went over my resume and asked some STAR-based questions, mentioning that the expectation is to move up within 3 to 6 months with small raises. I then waited another 45 minutes for an interview with two more supervisors. They repeated some STAR questions, and I got the vibe I wasn't connecting with one of them. Apparently, the company aims to do all testing, interviews, and possibly offer jobs in one day. When I asked why I should work there, one supervisor referenced an earlier answer, and the other said people need to 'earn the right' to work there. I figured right then I wasn't interested and wouldn't get an offer.
- What did you value about your previous job?
- What do you like about working here?
- Can you describe a situation where you showed good customer service skills?
Technical Support Specialist
So first, they had me take some assessment tests to check my technical and troubleshooting skills. After passing those, I had an interview with the operations manager. She mentioned the next step was a panel interview and that they were ready to make an offer if that went well. Then, I interviewed with two guys. After that, they told me to wait in the lobby for a 'minute,' which ended up being over an hour. Later, a manager came and got me for another interview. Weirdly, it wasn't really about the tech support job I applied for but more about an HR position. When that was done, he just said, 'It's Friday, so folks are heading out, but someone will reach out.' I started my interview at 9:30 am and didn't leave until 2:30 pm. About two weeks later, I got a poorly written, unsigned rejection letter basically saying they weren't moving forward but wished me luck.
- What's your approach to handling a customer who's upset?
