Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cabify.
Data Scientist
The process starts with an initial chat with HR. Then, there's a challenging 2-week take-home assignment with two problems. You submit your solutions (docs, notebooks, etc.), and if they're good, you move on. Next are three 1-hour technical interviews with the data science team, one of which is in English. Each of these interviews includes 30 minutes dedicated to Cabify's principles and competencies, where you'll share experiences applying them. The other 30 minutes involve reviewing your take-home challenge, presenting a past project, or solving a problem they propose with follow-up questions. Lastly, there's a 30-minute session for you to ask questions. It's a demanding process, about medium-high difficulty and quite long (nearly 3 months in my case for phase III results), requiring a lot from the candidate, while the feedback and support from their side were somewhat erratic and inattentive in my experience.
- Tell me about your background, what interests you, and if you're a good fit, including salary expectations and on-site availability.
- How would you design a full testing experiment for a new app feature?
- Write code for an ML classification model using a dataset with geospatial information.
Principal Data Scientist
very casual interview process, asking for salary expectations and previous work experience. The HR was almost reluctant to do the interview.
- What are your salary expectations and why do you expect them?
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
- What makes you want to join cabify?
Data Scientist
First, a recruiter call with HR. Then, a take-home project that involves programming, followed by presenting the results and conclusions, which is also a communication exercise. After that, two technical interviews with team members focusing on general data science and problem-solving approaches. Finally, a cultural fit interview with the Head of Department.
- What potential biases can arise in A/B testing, and what steps do you take to mitigate them?
- Can you describe the methods you employ to guarantee the unbiased nature of A/B tests?
