Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at C.H. Robinson.
Pricing Analyst
There were 3 interviews in total. The first was with a recruiter, usually asking general questions and about your experience. The second interview was with the hiring manager, and this is where you need to build rapport. The third interview was with both the hiring manager and the product development manager.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
- What interests you about joining CH Robinson?
- Are you honest?
Programme Analyst
I applied online and then got a recruiter call to set up a phone interview. The recruiter asked behavioral and company-specific questions and about my background. It went well so I went for an onsite. The onsite had two panel interviews, one with programmers and another with managers. They asked technical questions (basic OOP), behavioral questions, and questions about my experience. The vibe was good and the culture seemed open. I got an offer within a week, but be warned, they pay way below industry average for entry-level software dev. They rescinded my offer when I tried to negotiate based on market research and other offers. They said I wasn't a 'good fit', which told me this place wasn't for me or anyone who values themselves. If you're okay with working for peanuts, go for it.
- Can you explain the four fundamental principles of Object-Oriented Programming?
- What is an assertion in programming?
- Could you reverse a given string?
Consultant Analyst
Started with a recruiter call, then a manager interview that went longer than scheduled. Talked about my experience and how it fits the role. The interviewer didn't show his camera. We then went into technical questions after he asked to extend the time. I think a case study would have been a better way to assess problem-solving skills.
- What SQL function is used for combining tables?
- Which SQL function would you use to eliminate duplicate entries?
