Account Coordinator
It was a pretty standard interview process, but it seems this company has somewhat unrealistic expectations for their entry-level roles, as they state they are looking for recent graduates. I met with three people, and the whole process took about an hour and a half. The interview was conversational, and the people I met with seemed nice and pretty laid back. Two and a half weeks later, they reached out to me to let me know that although I was qualified for the position, they had decided to go in another direction. Overall, the interview itself wasn't a bad experience. I just wish they had been more upfront about what they were looking for in the first place. I would advise that recent grads look elsewhere, though many of their job listings say 0-2 years of experience, it doesn't seem this is really the case.
- Can you share the most challenging decision you've faced in the last year?
Account Coordinator
Applied on Indeed and got a call 3 days later. It was a quick call about my digital marketing experience. Then I had a 2.5 hour first interview. I met with another Account Coordinator who asked resume/background questions about digital marketing, SEO, and Client services. It was a casual chat, not super formal. After that, I met with an Account Director who was friendly and said he had some questions. He talked about the work environment and teams. Then an Account Manager explained the role more and answered my questions. She asked some questions too, but was nice. They said I'd hear back in a week. A week and a half later, I got called for a second interview. I met with the managing partner who asked a bunch of questions quickly, more about my general talents, free time, and why I wanted to be there, not so much the job itself. Then I met a Senior Account Director and a Director of Client Services. It felt like a repeat, they liked my resume, SEO, and Client service experience. They asked more personal questions to see if I'd fit in. I got an offer that same week.
- Can you describe a situation where you identified a problem and addressed it without escalating to a manager?
- Tell me about a time you were on a team and one person wasn't pulling their weight. How did you handle that with them?
- What's your experience with SEO and Client Services? Have you worked in a client-facing capacity before?
Account Coordinator
It was a really long and confusing interview process. It started with some intimidating phone calls, and then I didn't hear back for months. Suddenly, I was rushed to come into the office for an interview. I had to tell the same thing to 5 different people back to back in a small room. The interviewers seemed miserable and didn't want to know anything about me. I could tell it was a toxic place. I'm glad I did my research and didn't accept the offer, even though it was tempting financially. Trust your instincts!
