First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BYD.
Project Leader
The interviewer was late, didn't make eye contact while I was speaking, and asked inappropriate personal questions. The recruiter was unprofessional and ghosted me after the interview. It was a very negative experience.
- What led to you leaving your previous job before securing new employment?
Project Manager
I had 3 interviews in total. The first two were pretty standard: one with HR, and one with the hiring manager. The third interview was with the director over Skype. The connection was really bad, though. It kept cutting out and was delayed a lot. Since it's a Chinese company, some of the employees from their China office who are in the US branch might not have the best English. The director asked me if I graduated from "arts," which I had no idea where that came from, so I said no. He then asked me why "Bachelor of Arts" was on my resume and if I didn't major in arts. I had to explain what that means. We then spent some time going over my resume and what some things stand for. It felt like a cross-cultural education session. It was a pretty unique and interesting interview experience overall.
- Did you graduate from an arts major?
- Why does your resume say "Bachelor of Arts"?
- Can you explain what that means?
Project Manager
The staff suddenly called me for an interview. The position wasn't the one I applied for, and the questions were odd.
- What are your thoughts on your ability to handle people?
