Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BuzzFeed.
Media Planner
I went through several interview rounds. It began with a recruiter chat, followed by a conversation with a team member. Everyone I spoke with was really nice. I didn't hear back after the second interview, though I did hear that the team I was applying for might have been disbanded.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
- What are your reasons for wanting to join our company?
Media Planner
I applied online and then got a call from HR for an initial screening. The call went well, and they said I'd move on to interviews with the media manager. I was supposed to get an email Monday to set up the next interview, and was told to follow up if I didn't hear back in a few days. A few days went by with no update, so I sent a follow-up email but got no reply. I sent another email two weeks later, still no response. A few days after that, I got a generic automated rejection email. It was pretty rude and unexpected since they said I would move forward, and then they just ghosted my emails. I wish they'd given some explanation or feedback.
- Why are you interested in Buzzfeed?
- Can you tell us how you align with our company values?
Video Producer
The initial phone call felt friendly and the recruiter asked relevant questions. However, the recruiter was more than ten minutes late for the call and offered no apology, which came across as unprofessional. This lack of professionalism extended to other aspects, like slow email responses to important questions. It would be better to at least send a standard rejection email if they've decided not to move forward with a candidate.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Buzzfeed?
