Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BuzzFeed.
Marketing
The recruiter was unprofessional and distracted, sending poorly written emails with typos. Follow-ups were met with excuses. The rejection was also poorly communicated, stating the position was filled over a week after I submitted a PowerPoint assignment, which I never got to present. It took over a month to even meet the recruiter and hiring manager, which felt excessive.
- Why are you looking to leave your current job?
- Can you share an instance of a marketing campaign you were involved in?
Marketing
Instead of a typical phone screen with a recruiter, I had to do a one way video interview, which was a really bad experience for me as a candidate. Questions would just pop up on my screen with a timer, and I had to record myself answering them. After I sent them in, it took them two weeks to reply, and it was just an automated email saying they weren't moving forward with me. It's a bummer I didn't even get to talk to a real person. That's definitely not the best way to get good people.
- What makes you interested in Buzzfeed and this particular position?
Social Media
The process had three parts: a quick phone screening, then two in-person interviews with Buzzfeed's social media folks. The interviews were pretty laid back chats, lasting about 45 mins to an hour. I got an offer a few days after the last interview.
- Which Buzzfeed post do you like the most?
- What sets you apart?
- How do you think Buzzfeed succeeds?
