Assistant Store Manager
I applied online. I had interviews with the recruiter, the store manager, and the district manager. It took three separate meetings over two weeks. I got the feeling the company culture isn't great. All three interviewers seemed to lack basic customer service skills, including their tone, body language, and how they communicated. They didn't give a firm handshake, closed the door too quickly after I left, didn't walk me to the main hall, sat too casually, and the recruiter didn't send confirmation emails. The questions they asked were a bit out there, which made me wonder if the interviewer lacked experience or was profiling me. Honestly, I can see why their employee ratings are so low.
- Could you tell me what your husband's job is?
Store Manager
I had 2 interviews, one with the Senior Store Manager and then the District Manager. Both interviews were pretty casual, with questions mixed in. They really want to see your personality and if you'd fit into the company's customer-focused culture. They have a list of questions they ask.
- Can you explain what customer service means to you?
Store Manager
I applied for Store Manager and HR and I exchanged emails to set up a phone interview and then a second in-person interview. The first phone interview with HR was good. The second interview was with a local store manager, a one-on-one. He acted like he wasn't expecting me and wasn't at all prepared for the interview. He hurried through it, but I was okay with that. Then, in the middle of the interview, he said his assistant manager would be the store manager at the location I was interviewing for. I just finished the interview and didn't say anything, figuring he didn't know what I applied for. HR set up a third interview with the District Manager. When I asked about the store manager saying his assistant would be the manager, HR told me he was right, and they were only hiring department managers now! I saw someone else mention they don't hire store managers, but I guess they don't tell you that! I'm going to decline the DM interview.
- What makes you want to join this company?
- Tell me about your greatest strength.
- What is your greatest weakness?
