First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Burns & McDonnell.
Senior Software Development Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a telephonic call after getting shortlisted. Then, there was a face-to-face interview along with a 1-hour machine test. This was followed by casual talks and project-related questions. The final round involved a panel of 7 members. The HR team was very cooperative and helpful. The HR Round mainly focused on discussing the notice period and salary. The interview took a bit longer because there were many applicants for the position.

Software Engineer Intern
The interview process was really frustrating and felt like a waste of time. It was a pretty standard interview, with typical questions about my background and future plans. I had about 3-4 interviews in total, after meeting them at two career fairs. It seemed like every interview I had, the scheduled person was replaced by someone else, with the excuse that the original person couldn't make it. Most of the time, the interviews started late because the previous one ran over. They said they'd get back to me in 2-4 weeks after each interview, which were spaced out by a week or two. I followed up a few times, thanking them for the interview and then asking about a decision. It felt like they either have really bad time management, don't respect candidates, or are just understaffed. After 5 months with no response to my follow-ups, I found out the job portal was still open. I scheduled another interview just to get in touch with someone and express my concerns. They said they'd escalate it and I'd get a response in a week. Still no response, even after that video call. I get not getting the job, but a simple email saying I wasn't selected would have been appreciated. It was the most unprofessional and undervaluing experience I've had in my 5 years of college. The craziest part is that the jobs I applied for in September are still listed as open in February.

Software Engineer
The HR person asked me to complete a video interview where she was not present - I answered pre-determined questions using a webcam and no direct interactions with the interviewer. I found this to be off-putting, and felt that the company had very little effort invested in this interview although I had to the typical work of preparing for it such as anticipating how I might answer questions and dressing in formal attire. Very impersonal. Very little description about what roles I was actually applying for.
