Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Burlington Stores.
Store Manager
It was an average interview experience. Everyone I spoke with was very approachable, making the conversations feel more like casual chats. The process included a store walk-through with the District Manager (DM), where we discussed my experience. Following that, I had an interview with an HR representative and the Regional Vice President (RVP), which maintained a similar conversational tone. The process concluded with a background check and an offer.
- What would your last manager identify as your greatest area for improvement?
Store Manager
The interview put a great focus on the individual and their responses. It was very direct and short. The executives were very accommodating and catered to the candidates comfort. They were very friendly and inquisitive, giving specific information on their expectancies and requirements. On the cons, I felt that a hotel lobby is never a great place for interviews; there is no privacy, and personal information can be leaked very easily. I also felt their intent on focusing too much on appearance rather than the conversation.
- Do you have specific knowledge of retention figures?
- Do you have specific knowledge of turnover figures?
- Do you have specific knowledge of shrinkage figures?
Store Manager
I did a phone screen with the regional manager, regional staffing manager, and store manager. After that, I had a one-on-one in-person interview and store walk with the store manager. The store manager liked me and said he wanted to hire me, but needed his regional manager to approve it. Then, Burlington totally ghosted me and I never heard back about an offer or a decline. Very unprofessional.
- Tell me about your leadership style.
- How would you manage challenging team members?
- What's your background in merchandising?
