First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Burlington Stores.
Sales Associate
I interviewed at the store in Peoria, IL. It was the most unprofessional interview I have ever had. When the hiring manager (I believe she was an assistant manager) met me, there was no greeting. She led me into a small back room and told me not to move my chair closer. Then she interviewed me, asking questions with a bad attitude. At the end, I found out that they don't have full-day shifts available, only a few hours a day. This was a waste of time and gas since I drove from out of town.
- Do you have prior experience in retail?
Retail Sales Associate
They asked about my availability and if I had experience handling money in case they needed someone to cover the cashier role. It seems they really need people for weekend shifts or those with open availability to fill in where needed. The interview was a phone call; they gave me a specific time they would call, and if they didn't, I was told to wait about 15 minutes before calling the store directly.
- What are your available working hours?
- Have you ever handled cash transactions before?
Sales Associate
I had a phone interview scheduled for the Sales Associate/Cashier role at the Chula Vista, CA store. The interviewer never called me at the scheduled time. I called the store about 20 minutes after the interview was supposed to start and was put on hold for another 15 minutes. When the interviewer finally picked up, she sounded really annoyed. I know retail can be hectic, so I asked if it was a bad time and if she'd prefer to reschedule. She said no, but then asked what position I applied for. When I told her, she said they weren't hiring for that role right now and asked if I was interested in other openings. I thought this was super unprofessional, especially since I would have been seen as the one in the wrong if I had been late. It felt like a major red flag, so I turned down the other positions.
- Could you describe your availability?
