They started me off with a personality check, and then I got rejected without any feedback. Beginning the process with these kinds of questions and then screening applicants through them feels a bit strange, to be honest. At the very least, they could have mentioned that they were looking for someone with more experience.

Right after applying, I was sent a couple of tests before even submitting my CV. After passing a test, another one was sent. I think there were 3 tests in total, and then I had a UX knowledge test. I completed it but never heard back from bunq. I tried reaching out to an HR person to explain, but got no reply.

The interview process for the User Experience Designer role involved 5 rounds. It started with a personality test, followed by a visual and logic skill test. Then, there was a manager interview, and finally, a 'Mad Day at the office'. This whole process spanned over a month for me, which felt lengthy. The tests weren't too difficult if you have some visual and logical aptitude. The Mad Day assignment was a bit tough because of the fast-paced environment and the need to stay focused. My advice is to stay calm; it's manageable. Overall, the experience was positive. The designers, team lead, and other staff seemed skilled and friendly, despite some negative things I'd heard about bunq. I didn't pass the Mad Day. For the assignment, I'd suggest doing the essential minimum for research, analysis, and design, but make sure to address every point in the requirements. Prepare slides using their template and present a simple final deliverable. They are primarily looking at the final output. If you reach the Mad Day stage and deliver what they expect, you're likely to succeed. Good luck!

Confirmed questions1 question
  • On the Mad Day, redesign a current flow of the bunq app using Figma and their Design System.
