Data Engineer
The interview process started with a personality/IQ test. Then there was a round with technical questions you had to answer on your own. After that, there was a proper interview with a sympathetic employee. The last step was a 'visit' to their Amsterdam office. I gotta say, the atmosphere there seemed really bad. Everyone looked super stressed, and apparently, employees' performance is checked weekly. From what I saw in their docs, if they aren't happy, you're out. The CEO, who thinks he's the next Steve Jobs, has some weird management ideas, like forcing people to switch offices every 6 weeks. It doesn't seem like they respect basic workers' rights, but I'm not a lawyer. This leads to a very young staff, mostly under 30. Given the strange hiring process, maybe it's not surprising. I didn't get picked, thankfully, and now I have a good job at a legit company.
- What are your learning expectations for the first 6 months?
Data Engineer
The application process started without a CV. After a few days, I got an email for a common IQ test. Even after completing it, I kept getting emails for 3 weeks asking me to do the test! I tried to contact them but got no reply. Finally, after 3 weeks, I got an email saying I was selected for the next round. This round involved a Google Form with some multiple-choice questions and a couple of open-ended questions. Curiously, many of the questions seemed more suited for an ML Engineer role than a Data Engineering position.
- Can you explain how to design specific LLM models using given transaction data?
Data Engineer
They first gave me a behavioural assessment test to figure out my MBTI type, which was kinda surprising they cared about that before even talking. Then there was a logical reasoning test, multiple choice and timed. After that, a technical assignment, which was take-home with subjective questions.
- Tell me about your MBTI type.
- Can you complete this logical reasoning test?
- Could you complete the technical assignment, which is a take-home test with subjective questions about using and fine-tuning an LLM for a given use-case?
