So I applied for a Senior Business Analyst role at bunq. First, there was this external assessment by 'Neurolink' that supposedly measures cognitive abilities and engagement by tracking your face via webcam. It felt a bit weird and superficial, honestly. I passed the cognitive part, but the engagement test using facial expressions under not-so-great video conditions seemed off. After that, I had an HR interview, which was actually pretty good. The recruiter was nice and explained things clearly, like the contract progression and the company culture. I thought it might get better from there. But then came the online skills test, and that's where it all went downhill. For a role that needs real-world data analysis and strategic thinking, the test was surprisingly basic and could probably be done by AI. It's ironic because bunq talks about authenticity and AI collaboration, but their test felt easily gameable. I got a generic rejection email a few days later. When I asked for feedback to learn, they gave a canned response about the volume of applicants and 'process integrity,' basically saying they couldn't or wouldn't tell me what went wrong. It felt like they promote transparency and user experience, but the hiring process was the opposite – distant and not really a two-way street. For experienced folks, it felt more like an automated filter than a real evaluation. It’s like they focused on automation and branding over actual insight and clarity. While bunq has ambition, their hiring process for experienced talent needs more care, similar to how they treat their users. I'm okay with the outcome though, it seems like it wasn't the right fit.

You first apply without a CV & cover letter. This sounds modern but the execution is poor. They then look on LinkedIn, it is unknown if this is a real person or a bot but it feels automated. After this screening, you are invited for the online assessment. This is not relevant to the position. Unfortunately, after completing the 40-minute online tests, I received a rejection quite quickly. This is despite my profile seamlessly matching the vacancy. There was zero human contact, which is a shame.

I recently went through the hiring process at [Company Name], and I can confidently say it was a well-organized and smooth experience from start to finish. The process consisted of five stages, each of which was clearly explained, with a moderate level of difficulty. The most challenging yet rewarding part was the GSD (Get Stuff Done) stage, where I spent a full day at the office solving real business problems. Unlike many other hiring processes, this stage was not just theoretical—it was based on actual business scenarios, which I found both refreshing and engaging. The overall experience was seamless, and the office environment was outstanding. The employees were welcoming, helpful, and approachable. Whenever I had a question, everyone I interacted with was kind and willing to assist, which speaks volumes about the company's culture. Additionally, the onboarding process was efficient and well-structured. On my first day, I was provided with a laptop, detailed documentation, and access to the tools and systems needed to hit the ground running. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, making the transition into the company as smooth as possible.
