First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at bunq.
Backend Developer
So, the hiring process at bunq is pretty dialed in and moves fast. You kick things off with a quick interest form instead of sending out a whole resume. Then, there's this 'bunq fit' online test that checks out how you think and solve problems. After that, you've got a specific technical test for the role, then a quick 20-min chat with a recruiter, and finally, a 30-min technical interview with a Team Lead. They're good with communication, and they stick to their 5-working-day feedback schedule.

Backend Engineer
The interview process consists of 5 steps. It includes a case study, calls with HR and the tech lead, and a final "Get Stuff Done" (GSD) day at the office where you'll do a task. This GSD day is a cool way to see what working at bunq is like and meet the people there. Everyone in the Istanbul office is really nice and helpful.
- What makes you want to join bunq?
Backend Engineer
The application was super easy, no CV needed. Soon after, I got an assessment to check if Bunq and I were a good fit. A few days later, I received a technical assessment. I hadn't talked to anyone yet, so I didn't even know if our salary expectations matched. Nevertheless, I started the assessment. It took a few days to get answers to some questions I had about it. I put a lot of time and effort into this assessment, even sacrificing family time. It's been 1.5 weeks, and I still haven't heard back from Bunq. I followed up to confirm they got my assessment, but still no response. I feel like my time was completely wasted and I'm being ghosted. It probably says a lot about how employees are treated here. At the very least, Bunq could have acknowledged the time and energy I put into their hiring process and provided some feedback on the assessment, if they had any. They didn't invest any time or effort into their own process, and I'm really disappointed and feel disrespected because of it.
