Software Engineer
We started with a Hackerrank Test, it took about 30 minutes and was an online coding assessment for the Pre-screening round. Then came the Technical Rounds, there were two of them, Technical Round 1 and Technical Round 2. Both were for more than 1 hour. After that, there was an HR Discussion where we talked about feedback and salary. Finally, we had a Cultural Round where we discussed my previous experiences in companies, the best and worst parts of my career, and my future goals. This was to see if I align with the company's values and culture.
- Technical rounds focused on Ruby and Ruby on Rails, assessing problem-solving skills and basic Low-Level Design (LLD) questions.

The builder.ai interview process was great. Everyone was nice and kept me updated. It took about 3 weeks from start to finish. First, there was a quick phone chat about my background, what I want to work on, and what I'm looking for. Then, a video call with someone like an engineering manager to discuss my experience related to the role and more about the job. After that, a technical interview with questions on angular, typescript, and some coding problems similar to leetcode. Finally, an interview with someone to check cultural fit and ask some behavioral questions.
- Tell me about your experience with Angular.
- How do you see yourself contributing to the team's success and improving its productivity?
- Can you solve some general algorithmic problems, like those found on LeetCode?
Software Engineer
This company's interview process felt pretty disorganized. They'd go silent for ages between rounds, and sometimes people would just barge into the video calls. The cultural interview was weird, like the interviewer was just checking boxes and got weird when I didn't say things exactly how they wanted. They also seemed to misunderstand my answers about why I did things a certain way at a past job due to their specific business model, not realizing I'd be open to different approaches at a company like this. There were also some questionable things like their recruiter going on vacation and emails getting bounced around with return dates, which felt like an excuse. And after saying they liked my technical skills, they suddenly said I didn't have enough and hinted at a lower offer, which felt like a bait-and-switch. Even the rejection email bounced back when I tried to reply.
- Can you talk about the specifics and trade-offs of the tech choices you've made in previous projects?
- What's your approach to handling unhappy clients?
