& Process

The first interview was more of a chat to get to know me. The manager asked stuff about my past jobs, why I was interested in Buffalo Exchange, and what I knew about fashion and trends. The second interview was more hands-on. They had me pick five items from a rack in a specific section (like women's dresses) that I thought would sell fast and five that wouldn't. I had to explain my choices based on things like the style, if it was trendy, and the quality. I did a similar exercise with clothes that were in boxes and not yet on the sales floor. Everyone was pretty chill and seemed to be checking how much I knew about fashion and if I was eager to learn more.

I had a first interview where they asked pretty basic/corporate questions. Then, they had a buying simulation where they gave me a bag of clothes and asked me what I would buy and why, and what I wouldn't buy and why. That took about an hour. They called me for a second interview, which involved them pointing me to a specific rack and asking me to pick out 3 items that would sell quickly and 3 that I thought would sell slowly. Then they asked more fashion-related interview questions. Lastly, they gave me a personality test with two sheets of the same personality adjectives. On one sheet, I had to check the adjectives that describe how I feel others expect me to behave, and on the second sheet, I checked how I believe I actually behave. They said this would be sent to corporate and put into an algorithm. This interview took over an hour. They said they would call early next week for a third interview, but they didn't, even after I followed up mid-week. I received a letter in the mail over a week later thanking me for my time and informing me they didn't need my services at this time. It felt impersonal and corporate.

Had three interviews with a lot of shallow testing. First, I had to pick what I'd buy for the store from a box and explain my reasoning. Then they told me if it was a good or bad choice. Next, I had to pick three dresses or clothing items that I thought were on trend, and three that I wouldn't have bought, explaining why. The third interview was a personality quiz and some other questions. If they decide to hire you, you start working that same day after the interview. Make sure to keep the day open, wear comfortable clothes, and bring money for lunch.
