I had an initial phone screening with the Training and Development Manager that was very positive and informational. We talked for about 45 minutes about the role, and then I took a week to do my research on the company and industry and think about it. I then had another 20-minute call to set up a formal interview for the next week. The formal interview was a 1-hour Zoom call, followed by another 1-hour phone discussion. During this over 2-hour interview, things were going really well and all my questions were answered. They were very upfront about the role and what it entails. But then, in the last 3 minutes, the interviewer said, 'Oh, by the way, our company policy is that everyone must be completely shaven for a neat and tidy appearance. I hope that's not a deal breaker.' For some people, this might not be a big deal, but for others, it could be. I've had facial hair since before high school and have always kept it short and professional, as I've been in sales and business for over 25 years. I was shocked by this old-fashioned idea that the only way to look clean and professional is to be completely shaven, no matter how professional someone looks. While I strongly disagree with this 100% no-exception policy, they are a private company and can discriminate as they see fit in this area. My main issue is that they wasted my time. All the hours spent talking before the interview, researching the company and industry to be informed, and the over 2-hour interview, only for the interviewer to bring up this one non-negotiable aspect of the job. I told the interviewer clearly that anything they consider non-negotiable should be in the job posting or at least one of the first things discussed in the initial screening. This would save everyone time and energy, allowing them to focus on other things. Stop wasting people's time. If you get contacted by this company, you might want to ask them directly about this policy if it applies to you. Good luck!

It was interesting, long and informative, and kinda scary, but overall I think it went okay. There were two interviews, and then a final one with the VP of sales who makes the decision. You have to get through that one. The starting salary of 54K with 12 years of experience is a bit disappointing.

First I met the sales manager at a career fair and got set up for an interview with him on campus. Then I had a second round interview over the phone with someone from recruiting at corporate. After that, I was approved for the third and final interview, so I drove to the office in Greenspoint Houston and interviewed with Geoff and Reagan. My main tip is just appear confident. A big part of the job is talking to strangers and sitting in meetings with customers. They don't expect you to know sales or cleaning products. They want someone who will stay, so tell them you're looking for a career at Buckeye.
