First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bubble.

I submitted my application online and then got an email to schedule the first meeting. A recruiter from Bubble conducted the initial call; they were friendly but seemed a bit unfocused. Following that, I was given a take-home task to build a basic Bubble application. As I've worked with Bubble for years, I completed it in about 2-3 hours, though I realize it could take others much longer. After submitting the assignment, I received a link for a second interview, which lasted two hours and was split into two parts. The first part involved a case study where I had to respond to a customer support scenario. The second part was a discussion with other team members about my personal life and experiences. While the interview felt a bit long, it allowed me to share my background and demonstrate my Bubble skills. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected in the end. After investing 5-6 hours of my personal time, I received an automated rejection email. I find the process flawed; it creates anticipation through its many stages, but ultimately, it ends with a impersonal automated message. I was frustrated not by the rejection itself, but by feeling used and dismissed impersonally.
- Can you share details about your life?

The interview process kicked off with a brief 15-minute chat, though it felt more like 10, and was pretty basic with no deep dives, just a quick 'tell me about yourself.' After that, I had a take-home project. The instructions said it'd take about 2 hours, which seemed unrealistic since I had to learn their no-code software from scratch to build a basic CRUD app. I ended up spending two full workdays on it because I wanted to do a good job. Then, without any feedback on my project, I moved to the final interview. This was a two-part interview: the first hour was a case study, followed by an HR interview. The case study was quite a challenge, honestly. It felt poorly designed, and even after studying their products for hours, I doubt anyone could ace it without knowing exactly what they wanted. I spent nearly an hour asking questions to get on the right track. The whole experience was nerve-wracking, and the interviewer didn't seem to enjoy it much either. The last hour was an HR interview, which was actually pleasant and simple. Even with my customer service and tech background, I wasn't offered the job.
- Given a hypothetical customer's issue, can you identify precisely what is going wrong?

The hiring manager took over a month to get in touch, and then was a bit late for our call without any apology or explanation, which was odd. He seemed uninterested and generally unpleasant, making it a really bleak conversation. I actually considered ending the call early. I figured I wouldn't move forward because he seemed so down, but I was wrong. I was asked to do a take-home project, which the instructions said would take 2-3 hours, but it actually took way longer because I had to learn their programming language while building the app. His original project email went to my promotions folder, so I missed it at first. He contacted me two weeks later about it, and I agreed to do it. He stressed it needed to be done quickly, so I attempted this massive assignment in just two days. After a week, he told me I didn't pass due to some functionality issues and things I missed, which isn't surprising considering the expectation to build perfect apps using a tool I'd never used before, plus the learning materials were disorganized and hard to navigate.
