Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BTG Pactual.
Operations Analyst
The selection process at BTG Pactual is long, tiring, and poorly organized. There are several interviews, each lasting about 45 minutes. After the interviews, candidates don't get any feedback, and the HR person doesn't respond to messages. It seems BTG Pactual is looking for people who love the company, are willing to work long hours (>14) without complaining, and don't mind not having time to learn new things, improve technical skills, or have a social life.
- What makes you interested in BTG?
- What is your value proposition for us?
- Is working extensive hours something you're comfortable with?
Operations Analyst
I interviewed directly with two analysts from the team. There was no HR support, so they just asked whatever they wanted. They used the word “aggressive” 3 times to describe the bank's culture, and highlighted the rude and radical style of the routine with a lot of pride for those who work 16 hours a day. They also emphasized that even working that much, they earn a lot of money. I noticed that it didn't matter to them what my previous journey was, or who I am, as long as I was willing to sell my soul and 16 daily hours of work for a good amount. In the end, I just didn't want to work there for anything in the world, which I found to be their correct approach, since they want to cut anyone who works less than required right away.
- From what time of day do you feel that for you, enough work has been done?
Operations Analyst
There were many interviews with different people that took several days. Many people try to work there, they are very competitive and hardworking. There were many meetings. It was asked about degree, what you like to do, age, school, availability to start work, if you can work under pressure, and if you are competitive.
- What is your degree?
- What do you like to do?
- What is your age?
