Network Engineer
So for the interview process, first you have a PRESENTATION where they give you a topic a week before your assessment centre, make sure your presentation is about BT and what their competitors are doing and how BT plans to beat them. This is to see how much you know about BT! Then there's a TECHNICAL INTERVIEW, which felt less formal, more like an hour-long chat with your manager. You gotta know your network terms like TCP, UDP, QoS etc. and also prepare questions for the interviewer to show you're interested. Super important: don't mumble if you don't know an answer, ask the interviewer for it instead of letting them move on! Next up is the GROUP CHAT, which I liked the most! My tip is to make friends with everyone. During the group chat itself, DO NOT argue! Arguing means you might as well leave. They're looking for leadership, which isn't bossing people around, but including everyone, valuing their input, and still getting your points across! Finally, there's a CASE STUDY. You get 40 mins to read loads of info about a BT product and prep a SWOT analysis. Then you present it to an assessor and answer their questions. It was tough with so much info to read, so time management is key.
- Given a scenario, what factors would you take into account when designing a network?
Network Engineer
The interview process had three rounds in total. It started with two technical rounds, followed by a managerial round. All these initial rounds were fine. However, the HR round after the technical interviews was really bad. The HR people were terrible, trying to bargain like they were short on cash. I was very unhappy with the HR team, they were direct and unwilling to negotiate. It was disappointing to even have interviewed with them. Overall, the experience was very disheartening.
- Questions about BGP were asked.
- Questions about EIGRP were asked.
- Questions about OSPF were asked.
Network Administrator
I applied through their portal and also got a call from recruiters. A BT HR person then called me to talk about the job and asked about my preferences. We then set up a face-to-face interview which went pretty well. The very next day, they called me with an offer saying I was hired.
- Tell me about your job preferences.
- Can you elaborate on your technical skills for networking?
- How are your language skills?
