Project Manager
Applied online and then had a call with HR. The first interview was with the programme manager, asking standard questions about general PM experience. The second round involved competency-based questions and a case study that was given during the interview, with 10 minutes to review it and then answer follow-up questions. Even after 2 rounds, there was no feedback from HR, even though I followed up. As a company, they should really improve their communication with candidates.
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult stakeholder.
- In your opinion, what are the essential qualities a Project Manager should possess?
Project Manager
I had one phone interview and then a one-on-one interview. They asked competency-based questions and wanted details about my past experience. Honestly, I wasn't too interested in the company because of bad reviews about management, so I really wanted to assess the managers and use it as practice for other interviews. I asked questions to get specific answers, like about travel time, how work was assigned to projects, and how long staff stayed. The managers were evasive and didn't give straight answers. I also observed how management interacted with junior staff, and it seemed dismissive and disrespectful. For instance, as we walked to the interview room, someone asked a manager for help on a project that was clearly behind schedule, and the manager just walked away. HR staff were correcting each other over minor things in front of me. During the interview itself, the manager didn't encourage the junior person in the room to ask questions. By the end, I knew this wasn't the right place for me, even though I liked the job itself and the projects.
- Can you tell me about a time you faced a stressful situation and how you handled it?
- Could you share some examples of projects you have managed?
- How do your colleagues or superiors describe your performance during stressful times?
Project Manager
I applied for this temporary gig via a recruiter. The hiring process was pretty simple and fast. They asked me general project management stuff and some behavioral questions. Nothing tricky.
- Can you describe your methods for monitoring project progress?
