It was a really nice experience. The first part was a phone chat with the HR recruiter. Then, I had a second interview over zoom with the local manager and the managing individual from their corporate office in KS. I turned down the offer because it wasn't more than I make now. The office is small, but it seemed like a good place to work.

I found out about this job through the Kansas City chapter for PRSA and sent my resume and cover letter to the HR rep listed. They asked me to send over some writing samples, and then I had a phone interview a few days later. Two days after that, I went in to meet with the VP of HR and the Director of Marketing. Four days after that, I met with a bigger group of employees. The interviews were all pretty chill and everyone was really nice and interested in my past jobs, how I grew, and why I wanted to work there. They asked a lot about my personal experiences, but also a couple questions you'd expect for a marketing role.

I got a call from the VP of HR for a phone interview, which went well. A week later, I was scheduled for a Skype interview with the San Francisco office. That interview also seemed fine, but some of what the VP of HR said about how the office operates and the programs they use didn't match what the SF team said. The following week, I got a generic email saying the position was filled and thanking me for my application. I was bummed they couldn't send a more personal note explaining why I didn't get the job or offering advice for the future. It felt like my time wasn't valued, and the SF office needs better coordination with their Kansas City headquarters.

First, you'll have a phone call with HR. It's a pretty standard chat to get to know you better and gives you a general feel for the company. After that, you'll interview with the actual project team. This in-person interview is where you'll really get a sense of the company culture and the team's dynamics.
