I went to a recruiting event for Hasbro Children's Hospital, but they didn't tell us where it was, and it took me ages to find it with a patient advocate's help. The directions were confusing, sending us through other hospitals. When I arrived, they looked at my resume and told me to wait. There were nursing students practicing interviews, and they kept including me, saying I was getting 'interview experience.' I had to repeatedly tell them I'm a licensed RN looking for a job. After waiting 30 minutes, they told me they actually didn't have any pediatric positions open and had me interview with an adult floor manager 'for practice.' I never heard back, probably because they thought I was a student the whole time. I wouldn't take a job there because the whole experience was so disorganized.

I met with a hiring manager in a large room where other interviews and candidates were present. Initially, I was asked to introduce myself. Then, the hospital/unit's offerings were explained. Following that, I was asked about five or six questions and then given the chance to ask my own questions.

I applied to the Critical Care Nurse Residency Program. It is a very competitive program and the process was very vigorous. You are interviewed by a panel of about 6-10 people. The overall process involved a recruiter call, a panel interview, background check, and an offer.
