The interview process kicked off with a brief HR phone call to check background, salary expectations, and general fit. Following that, I had an onsite interview with the Regional Finance Leader and Regional Controller. This onsite was more of a conversation about my actual work history rather than a deep dive into technical accounting. We talked about multi-entity accounting, the month-end close process, how I communicate with operations, and managing deadlines. They also gave me the lowdown on how the accounting department is set up and what the workload is like, especially around closing periods. The start of the process was pretty quick, but things slowed down after the interview.

I applied online for the job and heard back from the hiring manager the next day about setting up a phone interview. This first call was about 30 minutes and they asked me some questions specifically about my resume and why I wanted this job. Towards the end of the call, they asked me to come in for an in-person interview. The in-person interview was with the profit center president and a manager, and it was set up within a week of the phone call. I got a job offer three days after that, with three days to decide. The offer was conditional on passing a background check and a credit check.

The interview process was terrible. After a three-week wait, I was told I'd get an offer soon. They strung me along for another four weeks, always saying they'd get back to me. In the end, I had to chase them down to find out they hired someone internal. Super unprofessional from the recruiters.
