Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brooksource.
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process was really thorough and they gave me all the info I needed. They were super clear about what they were looking for and what the goals were the whole way through. I never felt like I had to chase them for updates or feedback.
- Can you tell me about your background and personality?
Software Engineer
It was pretty straightforward. I had two rounds with the contracting company. First, I spoke with a manager, and then I met with that same manager along with two senior developers. We discussed my past work and projects I'd done in my free time. They were also checking my personality fit, so it's good to be friendly.
- Could you explain what a Set is and its use cases?
- How can closures be utilized for data transfer between controllers?
- Tell me about any personal projects you've worked on, and can you walk me through them, perhaps even show them?
Software Developer
I had an initial phone screen with a recruiter from a third-party agency, Brooksource, not the company directly. The recruiter was very brisk and unfriendly, felt very cold and emotionless. Then I had a video interview with the recruiter. I joined 5 minutes early, but the recruiter didn't show up. They emailed me 10 minutes later saying I wasn't in the meeting and sent a link that was the same as the invite. Then, the recruiter tried to blame me for technical difficulties and explain how meeting invites work, and told me to use a headset even though my setup is fine. I found this really rude and unprofessional. We still had the interview where the recruiter kept asking about my OOP experience, which was on my resume. Overall, a terrible experience, wouldn't recommend.
- Can you tell me about your OOP experience?
- What's a strength your managers or coworkers would say you have?
- What experience do you have working with specific technologies?
