Case Manager
The interview process involved a 40-minute discussion with an interviewer who used a form for standard questions, focusing on self-motivation, organization, and conflict resolution. This was followed by a 45-minute writing sample and an Excel worksheet.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with a colleague and how you managed the situation?
Social Worker
I went through 3 interviews over 3 weeks. It was confusing because the people I met gave me mixed signals about the job offer. They checked my references and I submitted a writing sample during the second interview. I had to reach out to them to see if I was still being considered, but still no clear answer. The whole process felt too long, unorganized, and unprofessional. Honestly, the way they handled things makes me not want to accept the job even if they offered. The last interview was a panel of about 8 people, and it felt like an interrogation. One person there seemed to judge me based on my looks, suggesting I couldn't handle the population because of my background. The interviewers seemed unhappy, which was surprising for such a well-known organization. I expected them to at least follow up after 3 interviews to let me know. I still haven't heard from them, and I don't even care anymore. I feel like I dodged a bullet and avoided a bad work environment.
- Are you capable of handling this role and what evidence supports this belief?
Recruiter
It was a pretty standard interview process. First, the hiring manager gave me a quick call to chat about my interest and salary expectations. Then, I went in for an in-person meeting with the same manager about a week later. We talked for about 45 minutes, and I had to talk about my past experience with recruiting and diversity. A couple of weeks after that, I had a second interview with other HR folks and the agency's executive director. I got to understand how my role would interact with others, and they asked me more detailed questions about my recruiting skills. Even though I was talking to four people at once, it felt fine because I was ready and answered everything well. They offered me the job a few weeks after I interviewed.
- Have you conducted behavioral interviews before?
Child Care Coordinator
I got a call to set up an interview. When I got there, I had to sit at a computer and answer a question about the job. Specifically, how I would manage a conflict between a staff member and a child. Three supervisors interviewed me at the same time. They put me under pressure sometimes. It's been a week since the interview, and I'm not sure if I'll be considered.
- Tell me about yourself.
- How would you handle a situation between a staff member and a child?
