Typically, there's a preliminary phone screening before we set up an interview with the hiring committee. They'll send over the interview questions the day before, and you'll meet with a hiring committee made up of at least five people.

Got an email about a week after applying for a phone interview. The interview was with the social work supervisor and lead social worker, lasted 30 minutes, and included lots of scenario and experience questions. I was told I'd hear back 'very soon' about the next round (an in-person interview). But after waiting a whole month, I emailed them. A week later, I got a rejection email from someone else on the team, not the interviewers. I know it's a busy time, but it's important to be considerate and at least let applicants know, especially after making promises. Also, it would've been better to hear from the actual interviewers. Very disappointed and feel like my time was wasted waiting.

I had one in-person interview with a hiring committee made up of attorneys, social workers, and administrators. The interview lasted about 30 minutes and was very direct. They asked me questions about my background, my experiences, and my motivation for wanting to work for The Bronx Defenders. I found the hiring committee to be approachable and not very intimidating. I thought the entire process was very transparent and open, which I really appreciated as an applicant.
