First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Broadway Technology.
Client Services Engineer
So after I applied online, the first step was a one-on-one interview. Then, the final round was a "super day" at their office on Broadway. The "super day" had me interviewing with four different people for an hour each, and they even provided lunch. The interviews themselves were pretty tough, really focused on problem-solving and case studies. But honestly, all my interviewers were super nice and patient. After all the interviews were done, the rest of the weekend was filled with fun team-building stuff like bowling and bubble ball so I could get to know everyone better. My overall impression of Broadway after interviewing was amazing - really great people doing awesome work. This was definitely the best out of the 6 other big companies I interviewed with.
- Can you describe the most significant technical project you've undertaken?
Software Engineer
I got my offer in early October. After I go to the super weekend at the end of October, HR told me my offer was rescinded because I did not attend the whole activity which was located in a bar till midnight. Ridiculously, they said the super weekend is also part of the interview which was never mentioned before. I am a 22-year-old student who does not like alcohol and did not go to the bar before. I felt uncomfortable staying in a noisy atmosphere and asked HR whether I can leave early. HR happily said yes. Then, the candidates (at least 3 as far as I knew) left early got their offer rescinded. PLEASE DO continue interviewing with other companies and NEVER choose broadway. Who knows whether it will withdraw your offer one day before you enter the company :) I really hope I could upload the picture as evidence, but it seems glassdoor does not allow me to do so. Toxic company environment :) And I felt lucky that my offer got rescinded otherwise I may be forced to drink otherwise got fired later:)
- Virtual onsite, 3 rounds, 2 questions per round. No behavior questions. Simple algorithm questions like traverse tree.
- OOD like design a hash table.
- OOD like design a class schedule.
Senior Software Engagement Lead
I found the role on AngelList and LinkedIn, then reached out. A recruiter contacted me for an initial phone screen, followed by another screen with an Engagement Lead. After a couple of weeks of no contact, I reached out again and was invited for an on-site interview. This involved four one-hour interviews, three with Engagement Leads focusing on my background and fit for the role. One interview included a code review using collabedit. Following this, there was a week of silence, and after I reached out again, I was informed that I would not receive an offer. The recruiter was really helpful and friendly throughout.
- Can you detail your past experience working as an engagement lead?
- Could you review this C++ code snippet for pricing match and explain its functionality?
Product Manager
The interview started with an initial introductory screening call, and then moved on to four conversations with senior managers. These discussions were all done over Teams because of the lockdown. The conversations were pretty casual, but they were set up to let information flow well and to build a connection. The questions weren't meant to be super hard, but all the interviewers were sharp and wanted to see clear proof backed up by actual examples.
- What are your thoughts on situational and competency-based questions?
- Can you provide examples of your experience with situational and competency-based questions?
