Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Broadcom.
Systems Engineer
It started with HR and then a Technical round. The questions were about systems fundamentals and hardware design. Specifically, they asked about transceiver block diagrams, link budget analysis, and performance testing using wireless standards and technology. It was an average interview overall.
- Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.
- Can you explain system fundamentals?
Embedded Systems Engineer
Got contacted by my college for an embedded systems intern role. Had a phone interview and then went in for an in-person interview at their office. It was a panel interview in a conference room with several interviewers. They asked straightforward, thorough questions. The office vibe was a bit formal and lacked personality.
- Tell me about your experience with low-level C programming.
- Can you answer some questions about networking concepts?
- How about some questions related to Linux?
Systems Engineer
I applied online and heard back after about two weeks to set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. We talked for about 30 minutes. They started by asking me to introduce myself, then followed up with some technical questions based on what I said. They also asked if I'd used Simulink in MATLAB and about my availability. I don't think it was a good fit since I haven't heard back in almost a month.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Have you used Simulink in MATLAB before?
- What's your availability?
