Account Executive
It was long but not too hard. I met with every ELT member, the hiring manager, and a sales engineer. They had me watch a demo. That was five sessions. Then, they wanted me to fly to San Francisco for a presentation on my 30-60-90 day plan.
- Can you describe how you present ROI in your current job?
Sales Engineer
Applied online and a recruiter reached out. Was told it would be four interviews but it ended up being nine. The process was disorganized and kept changing. Interviewers were unprofessional, dropping the f-bomb multiple times. Lots of red flags with this company.

- Are you married?
- Do you have any kids?

So, you gotta watch out for this one, it might be a SCAM. They've had this same remote job listed for like 3 years. After you pass 3 easy technical quizzes, they want you to build a whole complex project, deploying it on AWS yourself, and you have to pay for it! And they pay really low IT salaries. They're open to hiring anyone anywhere in the world, which is weird for a small company in Missouri. What's really concerning is they make you do this massive project before they'll even talk to you for an interview. This is the kind of work consulting firms charge a fortune for. You can find tons of these projects on GitHub from applicants, especially outside the US. It's no wonder they can't fill the job in 3 years; my guess is they're just using these free projects for their clients. It's a clever way to get work done for free. Overseas applicants can't do anything if they don't get a response after finishing a whole project. Pretty creative scamming, I gotta say.
- Build a simple analytics platform for a Fake Insurance company using the Kaggle dataset Agency Performance Model.
- Build a Data Pipeline/ETL process that takes the CSVs as input and saves into a database at a detailed level while also calculating summarized views.
- Ensure your summarized views can be easily queried using different pivots/dimensions, perhaps a star schema.

I applied online over the weekend and heard back Monday to do a project within a week. I finished it in a few days and the next day they wanted to schedule an interview. We set up a video call for the following week with 3 senior people. It was pretty standard with questions like 'tell me a time when...', 'why do you want to work here?', and 'tell us what you know about our company'. It lasted about an hour. At the end, they asked me to think about if it was a good fit and to send references if I wanted to move forward. I took a day or so to think and let them know I wanted to proceed. After my references sent comments, I got an offer the same day. The offer was more than 20% below my current salary, and both were in the $50k-$70k range on the listing. I countered a bit above my current salary, mentioning the benefits were worth a lot. They responded saying they had other candidates but would let me know. I responded with my current salary as my 'floor'. A week later, they said they wouldn't meet my request and would make offers to others. My advice is to discuss salary earlier or be more flexible. There was clearly a misunderstanding of my salary/responsibilities leading to a low offer and wasted time for both sides. Otherwise, keep hiring good people with diverse experiences. The project was straightforward and a good exercise, and the interview felt well rounded.
