Applied online and got a phone interview request a few days later. The first phone interview went well 'cause I prepped by studying the website and Glassdoor reviews. Definitely got a math question, but I was ready. Two days after that, I got a Skype interview invite for the next week (since I'm not in the Bay Area). Skype turned into a phone call due to tech issues. Again, I reviewed my notes and dug up more info from the website. That interview went well too, and a few days later, I got an email for a phone interview with two other people. We talked more in that one, and the same day, I got an email asking for a Skype role play. We set that up for the following week. I spent the weekend prepping notes and studying everything from cuts to clarity to color, sapphires, emeralds, etc., 'cause this was my shot to shine. The role play was fun, but a bit scary. I answered everything, but tripped up a little when asked to explain diamond clarity in depth. However, the next day, I got an email asking me to chat with one of the Brilliant Earth co-founders (Eric) later that week. SCORE! I made sure to research the co-founders a lot, from their education to what inspired the company. I was on the phone with Eric for about 45 minutes. We chatted about my favorite college classes, favorite parts of previous jobs, etc. I noticed he asked a lot of the same questions the other interviewers did. He also asked if I had references, and I said yes! I sent a follow-up email and almost immediately got a rejection. The reason given was they were 'deciding to prioritize candidates whose experience level is more in line with our current needs.' I was a bit surprised, having sent my résumé, cover letter, and gone through five interviews. You'd think they'd have a good grasp of my experience level from the first couple of interviews. I really wish they'd given me more accurate feedback, especially since I spent hours studying and prepping. Overall, it felt like I wasted my time with a company that couldn't even give me honest feedback. I would have preferred a simple 'we've decided to go with other candidates. Thanks for your time' from the start.

The interview process was quite thorough. It started with a phone screen, followed by an in-person interview, and then another phone interview that was supposed to be via Skype. Unfortunately, they later informed me that they were moving forward with candidates who were a better fit for their current needs.

Behavioral Technical Case

First, I had a phone call, which was mostly behavioral questions like talking about myself, my past experiences, and what my references would say. They asked a specific question about sales tax that everyone gets. It lasted about 20 minutes. Then, about two days later, I got an email to schedule a Skype interview. This one was a role-play where I had to sell a diamond ring. There were three people interviewing me. The first 10 minutes were more behavioral questions, then we jumped into the role-play. It was really stressful because there's so much information to know. They asked about metal allergies, specifically nickel, so I had to know about the metals used as well as all about diamonds. I heard back two weeks later and they said they needed someone with more experience.
