The hiring process was super fast and smooth. I applied and within a day, HR reached out to schedule a chat. The first call was a standard phone screen where we went over my resume, my knowledge of the company, why I'd be a good fit, and what I liked/disliked about past jobs. After that, the same HR rep contacted me to set up interviews with the manager and the VP. This interview was similar to the first but a bit more technical. We reviewed my resume, did an Excel/SQL test via screen share, and discussed some situational questions about inventory and shipping. My last interview was with one of the CEOs. We talked about why I'd be a good fit at Brilliant Earth, what stood out about the company, and discussed my proudest projects and how they met goals. Then, they contacted my references, which took the longest. It's clear Brilliant Earth takes hiring seriously and respects candidates' time. The whole process from applying to offer took about two to two and a half weeks, and all interviews were virtual.

HR was quick to reach out for a phone screen after I applied online. They immediately asked in-depth technical and behavioral questions, plus the usual mental math question. I was then moved to speak with someone in the role, who asked more technical and mental math questions. The hiring manager, the VP of finance, asked similar questions. I liked the process with BE up until the interview with the VP, who seemed uninterested and aloof. It's a red flag when a high-level manager doesn't make eye contact. I knew it wouldn't be a good fit. It seems they're either taking a long time to find the right candidates or just testing out talent for this role, as the position title has changed often and requirements are broad. The mental math questions seem excessive for a technical role but are common here. Overall, the process was okay, but the company's organization and the VP's behavior were red flags regarding company culture and their advertised business model. I wasn't surprised I didn't get the offer.

I went through 4 interviews for this role, with two phone calls and two video interviews. The first round with HR was mainly behavioral and personality questions. After that, the questions became more specific to the job, including tests on VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables, along with business case scenarios and some mental math. The overall experience was good, and it was clear that the interviewers were passionate about their work. HR was responsive during the whole process. Beth and Jeff, who interviewed me, were very insightful and good at asking follow-up questions to really understand my past experience and skills.
