Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BrightView.
Business Developer
First, there was a pre-screening with the internal recruiter. After that, I had 5 phone interviews spread out over about a month with different people at the company. What was frustrating was that every interviewer kept telling me how qualified I was and that I should reach out with any follow-up questions, and they'd be happy to answer. That wasn't true at all because my calls were never returned, and I never got any status updates. The only thing I received was a generic rejection email a month after the last interview. It felt like a complete waste of time and was very unprofessional.
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
- What is your understanding of our company?
- What motivates your interest in this role?
Business Developer
The interview process was made up of 3 parts. First, there was a screening with the Recruiter. Second, I met with the Hiring Manager. Third, I interviewed with HR and the Regional Director. The interviews mainly involved discussing my experience and responding to situational questions about how I would handle specific circumstances. I also took a personality/talent profile quiz to help identify my work style and highlight my strengths. Although the experience was positive and reassuring, they ultimately chose a candidate with more relevant experience. Despite their claims of hiring diverse candidates, the company seems to prioritize hiring individuals with specific landscaping experience, even if candidates possess strong enterprise and SMB sales experience and a track record of closing large deals.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Business Development
It was a pretty chill interview process. The first part was a phone call and it wasn't too tough. I haven't heard back yet, but so far, it's been a good experience.
- Tell me about your experience acquiring clients in past roles and walk me through your typical work process.
