Client Services
Went through a bunch of phone and in-person interviews, like, a lot. It all took about two months and over 10 interviews. After all those, the last one was supposed to be with the CEO. But before that was set up, the hiring manager let me know they were ditching all the current candidates and starting over. This was because the Client Services team decided to change both who they were looking for and how they were going to vet people. It felt like a lot of wasted time for everyone involved, honestly. Just a heads-up to anyone applying to this company: they don't seem to have a solid hiring process or structure. The team I would have joined seemed really nice, though. Probably just the higher-ups who like to switch things up a lot and expect everyone else to go along with it, no matter what.
- Can you walk me through your background?
- What makes you interested in this opportunity?
- How would you approach various client scenarios?
Client Service Analyst
I got the ball rolling by applying online. Then, I went through 2 phone interviews where they asked me standard questions about my background and why I was interested in the company and the role. The final step was a Career Day at their San Mateo office, and thankfully, they covered all my expenses. The day kicked off with a company lunch, which was a great chance to meet some future colleagues. I got a really good feeling about the company culture; it seemed like a fun and fulfilling place to work. The rest of the afternoon involved 4 interviews back-to-back. These were pretty tough, with 3 of them including case study questions to check my analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- If a client's ranking for a specific keyword falls from number 1 to number 10, how would you calculate the resulting revenue loss?
Client Services Manager
The interview process involved several phone interviews and then in-person interviews with the team. There was also one meet and greet/interview with the VP. Personality and brain teaser questions were asked. It was a pretty long process, taking over 2 months from the phone screen to the final meeting with the VP. I was excited to have made it that far to meet the VP, but he was really rude during the interview. He yawned a lot without seeming to care and looked like he wasn't paying attention and was super uninterested. I've never felt so disrespected in an interview before. I even wondered if it was a stress test. Before that, my interactions with the rest of the team were fine. The questions they asked were good practice for other interviews, but the VP's rudeness and unprofessionalism really left a bad impression.
