Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brick House Tavern + Tap.
Server
I interviewed with the manager and sat at a quiet booth. I got the job immediately due to prior serving experience. Manager asked how I handled being under pressure and staffing issues and I said every restaurant is dealing with staffing issues and I’ve handled 10+ tables before. If there is good teamwork there should be no problem. Interview went well.
- How do you feel when you are under pressure?
- How do you handle situations where restaurants are understaffed?
- What does teamwork mean to you?
Server
I submitted my application online and got a call the very next day to schedule an interview. I attended the interview and was asked pretty standard restaurant questions like if I knew about brick house, to upsell a coke, and about my alcohol knowledge. I wasn't the most knowledgeable about alcohol, and honestly, it was a bit intimidating. The day after, they called and told me they were really impressed with my interview and offered me the job! Then I got an email with all the details for orientation and training.
- What are five types of vodka you know?
- Can you name five vodkas?
Server
I applied through indeed, and the next day got a call to set up the interview. We met at brick house. I sat in a booth and talked with the manager on the floor. The manager was nice and respected my time. The interview was conversational and short. As I was leaving, I met the wait staff and the manager told me my start date and how to get ready for it.
- What is your earliest possible start date?
- How flexible are you with your availability?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for a server position?
