Software Engineer
My interview experience at Brevo for Software Engineer - Golang was really good. The online round had sharp interviewers who asked direct tech questions. There were 3 live coding questions and 1 verbal explanation question. One interviewer was particularly interested in how I approach technical questions during coding. The in-person round involved questions about my past experience, my roles, responsibilities, and the challenges I encountered in production environments, along with how I solved them. The TA team was very helpful, explained the whole process, and provided feedback after each call.
- Can you explain what compositions are in Go?
- How do compositions work in Go?
- Could you describe Go routines and channels, and the different types of channels?

The interview process was alright. There are 3 rounds planned. The first is an HR round where they ask about your profile at your current company and some technical questions. The second is a technical round. The third is a managerial round, but I didn't reach that stage. In the HR round, they'll ask technical questions and about your current job. They asked me about bundles in React. In the second round, they asked me to rate my skills in React, Redux, JavaScript, and data structures. The difficulty of the questions depends on your rating. Some questions they ask are about currying or the difference between useCallback and useMemo hooks.
- Can you explain currying and provide code for a currying function that sums numbers passed as parameters, where the function can take any number of parameters?
- What is the difference between the useMemo and useCallback hooks?
- Explain the difference between shallow copy and deep copy.

So I had about 3 technical interviews, and then some HR stuff that was mostly about salary. The tech interviewers were pretty nice and helpful. After the last tech interview, there was silence for about a week. Then I reached out to HR to talk salary. It seemed good at first, she said my feedback was positive and asked about my current salary and expectations. She said my expectations were fine. But a few days later, the offer I got was way less than we talked about! When I asked why, the HR suddenly said I wasn't that strong a candidate (which wasn't mentioned before) and that's the best they could do. That change in feedback was tough to take, so I had to pass on the offer.
- What are Goroutines and how do they work?
- Can you explain Golang Channels?
- What are the different data types in Golang?
