Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Breakthrough T1D.
Manager
I went through several interviews for an internal role. Each interview covered a different part of the job, which was useful and gave me a better idea of what's expected. I was told more than once that I was a strong candidate for the role. So, the final decision was disappointing, especially since the only reason given was the high number of applicants. As an internal employee, that explanation didn't really help. I'm disappointed with how it turned out, but I'm still glad I got to explore the opportunity and go through the process.

Senior Manager
I was in the interview process for a role for two months. In the first two weeks, I talked to HR, C-suite, and the direct team. I thought the process would be quick. After those, I had to interview with the C-suite again. They said they were busy that week and then going on PTO for a few weeks, so the interview couldn't happen until they got back. I should have known they were interviewing other people then, but that's okay. I would have liked to know. Four weeks later, I had my second interview with the C-suite. At the end, they said I would hear back "very soon" twice. I followed up a week later with no response. The next week, I finally heard back and was told the job was offered to someone else. When I asked for feedback, they said they had none to give. I was very disappointed with the lack of transparency and the time I spent interviewing with no feedback. Update: HR did get me some feedback after I complained about not getting any, which I appreciate.

Office Manager
Got reached out to by a former colleague who used to work at another company. The process here isn't really the same everywhere in the country, so what I went through wasn't typical. It was a pretty chill, easy interview and then I got the job right away. I have seen some managers drag their feet a lot longer on making a decision though, so it really depends on how the cookie crumbles. I had to do 3 assessments in total, which is pretty normal for a company this size.
