First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brand Institute.
Brand Development Associate Director
I was contacted via LinkedIn for an Associate Director position and submitted my resume. I had a phone interview scheduled with the CEO and an administrator for two days later. The CEO left early, but the administrator was friendly and suggested an in-person interview. I rescheduled the in-person interview due to a snowstorm, and it was set for soon after. However, the morning of the rescheduled interview, I received a call canceling it because the position was put on hold. This was very unprofessional and a waste of my time, especially after they initially reached out.

Associate Director, Brand Development
I was contacted on LinkedIn in late November, but the message looked like spam and it was the holidays, so I didn't pay much attention. I followed up in February and they seemed interested, asked for my desired salary and wanted to do a phone interview with the CEO that day. After some back and forth emails, I got excited and researched the company more, and waited for the call. When I finally got the call, I was transferred to a conference call with people who had no idea who I was or what was going on. They asked me why I didn't reply to the LinkedIn message right away. They were unsatisfied with my answer, told me I was a weak candidate and not the guy they were looking for, and hung up. We never discussed my qualifications.
- Can you explain why you didn't immediately respond to the LinkedIn message?
Director
The interview was fine. Listening to the CEO talk was important. Answer the questions that you are asked. Don't interrupt the CEO. Unfortunately their pay and benefits are way below the industry average. Vacation of two weeks is non negotiable with no increase based on years of service; and you have to ask the CEO for permission to take vacation days. Too many red flags. Never undervalue your worth and compromise by accepting an offer that does not compensate you for your experience. Reading all of the Glassdoor comments provided transparency as to the leadership of the company and how employees are treated.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
Market Research Analyst
I saw the job on a website and applied. The whole interview process went by super fast. I got a phone call the day after I applied, and then the very next day I had my interview for the market research analyst job. Everyone was really nice, and the office is in a really cool spot if you live in Miami.
- Could you tell me about your weaknesses?
