First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Brainly.
Graphic Designer
The process was pretty good, with three main parts. First, an interview with the Lead Designer where I talked about my background and what I've done, and they told me about Brainly, the Design Team's current work, and future plans. Then, I got an assignment to complete along with an NDA. The final stage was a Demo Day at Brainly HQ. I presented my assignment there. I was happy to get some Brainly goodies and a workspace for the day. The schedule included panels with the Design Team, HR, and the Design Lead, plus lunch and my presentation. It was friendly, but felt a bit disorganized. During the team panels, nobody seemed sure of the agenda, and I wasn't sure what was expected. It also seemed like there wasn't much real work happening that day, and no one was checking on it. Some team members weren't even sure what they were working on when I asked. My presentation went okay, and afterwards, I was asked about my assignment choices and if I'd change anything. Despite some hiccups on Demo Day, it felt alright. I was told I'd hear back soon, but it took longer than expected. I didn't get an offer because they said other candidates had 'better experience'.

Content Staff
First, they had a Skype interview which went well. Then, a test was given and discussed over Skype. Following several Skype interviews with HR and the GM, plus some users, I was invited to the final recruitment stage: Demo Days. This involved a two-day working session on a project in Krakow, culminating in a presentation. On the first day, there was a marathon meeting with people from other markets, including a shared lunch to assess social skills. The second day required a presentation based on the first day's findings. A key aspect of Demo Days is to actively engage and ask questions of everyone you meet. Some candidates struggle with this due to unfamiliarity with the company's operations. In my case, I was assigned to market A but didn't get to interact with anyone from that market during the event.

UX Researcher
It started with a recruiter call, then there was a technical interview with the lead UX researcher and another mid-level UX researcher, the whole team was there. During the technical call, I felt like they weren't listening to me from the beginning. When I tried to rephrase a question that wasn't clear, the interviewer just said 'never mind.' They asked a question about how to come up with UX research initiatives instead of just responding to business requests, and I was told, 'well, if you want to ask how many hamburgers people eat, that wouldn't be great.'
- Can you describe your typical day?
- What's your approach to generating UX research initiatives proactively, rather than solely reacting to business demands?
Community Manager
The interview was with one person via Google Hangouts, who was in Poland while I was in America. The interview wasn't hard or unusual, pretty straightforward, and the interviewer was nice. But Brainly never followed up! They said they'd reach out in a week, and it's been almost three months with no word, so I guess I didn't get the job. I even checked my spam and voicemail. If I promised a callback in a timeframe and didn't deliver, I'd be unprofessional. Employers should hold themselves to the same standards they have for candidates. Ghosting someone you spoke to for 30 minutes from another country is unprofessional and says a lot about how Brainly operates. A simple message saying I didn't qualify would have been fine and understandable. Based on the site and the interview, I might have dodged a bullet...
