Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Program Director
The interview process was in-person and conducted by the Center Director. The center seemed very clean and well-managed. The Director was professional and asked good questions. There was also a tour. They said candidates would be contacted about next steps or decisions. However, it's been almost two months with no contact. It's unprofessional and hurtful to ghost candidates. They should at least let people know when they aren't moving forward.
- Can you share an experience with a child that influenced you and inspired your desire to work with or support children?
Program Director
You'll talk about your past experience with kids and how you solve problems. They also want to know if you can manage tough behavior or situations that pop up.
- Tell me about your experience working with children.
- How do you approach problem-solving?
- What's your strategy for handling challenging behavior or difficult situations?
Program Director
I applied for one job but was called in to interview for a different role. First, I had a phone call with HR, then a panel interview for the first round. The director interviewed me for the second round. HR followed up pretty fast after the interviews.
- Can you share an example of when you worked with a challenging teen?
- Could you explain your philosophy on youth development?
