First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BoxLunch.
Assistant Manager
It was a pretty simple interview process overall. They asked about my background, what I've done, and how I'd handle various retail scenarios. If you're ready for the interview and have a mindset for solving problems, you'll do great.
- Can you share an instance where you managed a tough situation?
- Tell me about a difficult situation you handled.
- Give me an example of a time you handled a difficult situation.
Assistant Manager
It was a really quick and easy process. I had a Zoom chat with the district manager, and then later that day, the store manager called me. They offered me the job right away, and I started training the same week.
- What is your interest in BoxLunch?
- Are you a fan of Disney or Anime?
- Can you share instances where you've surpassed sales targets?
Assistant Manager
I applied online for the Assistant Manager position when I saw it was open. I went into what I thought was the interview, and it turned out to be a group interview, which I found a bit strange. Towards the end, something felt off, so I asked if it was indeed for the Assistant Manager role, and the girls there seemed surprised. It turns out the manager mistakenly posted the Assistant Manager job when she actually only needed seasonal associates. It was a bummer to have wasted my time driving 3.5 hours out of town for this.
- Can you choose 3 categories in the store that you like the most?
- Which section of the store are you least comfortable with (e.g., Harry Potter, Disney, Gaming)?
- What do you do in your free time?
