Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Box.
Senior Recruiter
The whole process was really great and took about two weeks from start to finish. I was impressed by the quality of the recruiters and everyone else I met at Box. It was a mix of behavioral and technical questions that were challenging but fitting for my seniority and reflected the high standards at Box. The company culture really shone through in every conversation, and I was actually waiting for some negative aspect to show up after joining, but it never did! Box truly has a passionate culture with humble people who are enthusiastic about our impact on the enterprise community.

Recruiter
I spoke with a Sales Recruiting Manager. It felt way more like an interrogation than a real interview or conversation. I'd give 2-3 minute answers and the interviewer wouldn't even acknowledge them, just move straight to the next question. She didn't discuss the company or the position at all from her side. I'd suggest Box rethink their interview approach. It seemed like from the second we started the call, the interviewer had the attitude of 'okay, impress me'. I wouldn't recommend this company based on how my interview went.
- Can you walk me through your background and career path so far?
Technical Recruiter
Although I didn’t get the technical recruiter role, candidate experience was great at Box. Recruiter (Lucy) was very attentive from the very beginning and followed through to the very end. The interview day was fairly long, but manageable. Was great to get a tour at the start and also have lunch with potential team members in between. I wouldn’t change a thing when it comes to the process. Box has a great staffing team that values the candidate experience. Too bad it didn’t work out!
- Describe a situation where you had to provide constructive feedback to a colleague.
