& Process

The interview process had three steps: a phone interview, a Skype interview, and a final Skype with the manager. The first phone interview was basically a chat to talk about the job and my background. Then, the Skype interview covered rules for Part 91 and Part 135 flying, like airspace, weather, and regulations. It wasn't too tough. They offered me the job after the second interview, but I turned it down.

It was pretty disorganized. They spoke to me for like 10 seconds on the phone and then asked me to come in for an in-person interview. I met with two people, and they said they'd call me that day or the next, but I never heard back. I followed up a few times, and they asked me to come back to meet more people. When I arrived, it was clear they weren't ready. Someone was interviewing someone else in the lobby, so they made me wait in the hallway until they found a room. Once they did, I waited there for 20 minutes before the first person showed up. After talking to three people, they told me they'd be in touch really soon, but that was the last I heard from them.

Applied online and then waited about 2.5 weeks to hear back. A representative from Boutique Air called me for a phone screen and said the station manager would contact me. The station manager reached out the next day to set up an in-person interview. It was a pretty standard interview with typical questions. After the interview, she mentioned the hiring manager would follow up regarding the next steps.

I had two phone interviews. The first one was super quick, like less than a day after I applied, and it was mainly just HR stuff, like asking about my pilot qualifications and if I had any accident history. Just the usual basic questions. The second interview was the technical one, lasted about 45 minutes. They asked about FAR Part 135 Alternate Minimums and Requirements, what a tail plane stall looks like and its indications, and a bunch of scenario-based questions to see how I'd handle different situations. They also asked about holding speeds and lost comm procedures. Make sure you know the systems of the last plane you flew. Since I'm a high-time Cirrus instructor, they specifically asked me to explain the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. Oh, and if you don't know an answer, just say so, don't try to make stuff up.
